The Whatley Economy
Earlier this year, the RCAA resolved to no longer shop in our city because of Whatley's complaints about them driving on our streets. At the July 8th council meeting, we were told of the first-ever total-revenue decrease in our city, and that there was no increase anticipated in sales tax revenue. He also stated services will be decreased. It's now rumored that employee benefits will be cut and/or employees will have to pay more for their benefits.
Whatley blamed the economy and bragged about what a good job he was doing; Is it the economy's fault? Read the article in the Waxahachie Daily Light about their expanding business base. The Gingerbread City is expanding, while we die on the vine. Mr. Whatley, quit killing our city while you're telling what a good job you're doing.
Want more proof? The July 16th, 2008 Waxahachie Daily Light, in an article entitled, "Consumer Spending strong in Ellis County," stated the following about the sales tax comparisons of the month of June, 2008, to the month of June, 2007, as reported by the state comptroller's office:
Whatley, isn't it a shame when facts prove your rhetoric is a bunch of political bull?
Why are you doing this to our city? Why are you doing this to our city employees who serve us so well?
Do you still think it was smart to tell over 800 adults (and their families) to stay off Midlothian streets (and away from our businesses)?
