2007 - 2008 Budget

The following items represent our analysis of the city's 2007 - 2008 Budget, as seen on the city's website and as published in paper form.

• Item 5500, Fines & Forfeitures, is budgeted for $560,200.  That's almost $75 ($74.89) for every man, woman, and child in Midlothian.  Think you're going to get off when you get stopped for doing 42 in a 40?  Think again.  The city's budget won't allow the officer to use discretion.  They not only have to get your $75, but they have to make up for all those kids who don't drive!
